History and Description
Torre del Oro is an Almohad watchtower built in the 13th century to defend the port of Seville. Its name comes from the golden glow it reflected in the Guadalquivir River thanks to its tile cladding.
At 36 meters high, it was part of the city's defensive system and was connected to the wall by a wall section. It currently houses the Naval Museum of Seville with exhibitions on the city's maritime history.
